Night Prowl to the Centre of the Universe/DAO
Date: 6 April 2019
Time: 7-8:30 pm
Where: Centre of the Universe, 5071 W Saanich Road, Victoria, BC, V9E 2E7
We are visiting the Centre of the Universe and hoping for clear skies to go stargazing.
If the weather cooperates, we will have the opportunity to look through a couple of telescopes and find some celestial objects in the night sky.
The tour will have a theatre component where we will be given an overview of the history of the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory (DAO) and what is happening in Canadian Astronomy at the moment. Then we do a visit to the Gallery and have a Planetarium presentation. We then go over to the dome to look at the Plaskett Telescope. In the dome there are two sets of steep steps but we do have a small elevator that will take people less mobile up to the top. The tour is usually between 1 and a half and two hours and will start at 7 pm.
It is suggested to layer your clothing as it is warm in the Planetarium but cold in the dome. Good comfortable shoes are also suggested. Fee is $10 per person to be paid at the entrance.
